Getting Started
Upon receiving your
completed registration, we will send you an e-mail containing a link.
Click on the link and follow the directions to activate your account.
You will receive a second e-mail containing your account information and
welcoming you to NoFeeHost.
You
need your user name and password to set up your NoFeeHost account,
contained in the welcome e-mail. If you have not received that e-mail
yet, please be patient. Depending on where you are and what ISP you use,
e-mail can take up to several hours.
Site Registration
Your site will be
registered as (usersX.NoFeeHost.com/YourUserName). Your web site should
become accessible immediately after receiving your welcome e-mail with
your user name and password.
Uploading Your Web Site
You can upload your
files to our servers immediately after receiving your welcome e-mail.
You have the option to upload your files using our web-based File
Manager or any standard FTP client.
Currently, our servers do not support the Direct Publish features found
in either Microsoft FrontPage or Visual Studio.
FTP Client Software
Our servers use the
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to upload files. You will need an FTP
client application to load your files to our server. If you do not
already use an FTP client, you will need to download one and install it
on your computer. NoFeeHost recommends four FTP Clients. For Windows
users, we recommend FTP Voyager, Cute FTP and WS_FTP. For Macintosh
users, we recommend Fetch.

Configuring Your FTP Client
After installing your FTP client, you will have to
configure it to access our server and upload your files.
The basic information for setting up an FTP client is as
follows:
|
|
When
the FTP client accesses our servers, it automatically
submits your user name and password. The server will
automatically access your correct FTP directory
location, and you may begin uploading your web site
files.
For
more detailed information, and step-by-step instructions
for using the FTP clients that we recommend, please
refer to our
FTP Info page.

Setting Up Your Home Page
The first time you
access your FTP directory you will find a page titled "default.htm."
This is the current home page, a temporary link that simply displays an
"Under Construction" page until you build your web site. Delete this
page to begin setting up your web site. Then, upload your home page and
name it "default.asp", "default.html", "default.htm", "index.asp"
, "index.html
or
"index.htm."
This
step is very important. Make sure that your "default" or "index" page is
at the top level of your account directory. Do NOT put it in a
sub-directory. If you try to access your web site with your browser and
get an error message that says "Directory Listing Denied," it means the
server is looking for an index or default page and can not find it.
Confirm that you have either a default or index page - but not both - at
the top level of your directory.
Thank you for joining NoFeeHost. We wish you the best of success on the
web!
